Losers' Luncheon and a 3-in-1 Malaysia

Met up with Robin at a kopitiam yesterday. Will post that most interesting conversation soon.

Meanwhile, KijangMas gatecrashed a Losers' Luncheon last month.

Chitchatted with the guy who couldn't help wanting to be the PM and the guy who needed help when he was the PM.

Just got this from the paparazzi:-

Nothing much happened at that makan, except that the guy to my right (yeah, in tie) devoured everything in sight and the guy on my left lost his appetite.

The MSM later "spun the scoop" into orbit with the report below. Hey Joceline, what's with the "roasted wild deer"?

Oh, another thing. Our new Prime Minister is touting something called 1 Malaysia. But how come his blog is multilingual? Even got version in the national language of the People's Republic of China. Dalam Bahasa rasmi Tamil Nadu bila lagi?

I didn't know we have voters up in Beijing and Dalian and Lanzhou?

Memanda P
erdana Menteri, are you promoting 1 Malaysia or a 3-in-1 Malaysia?

In these early days, PM Najib Razak seems to project himself as a neo-liberal almost in the plasticky, superficial Zaid Ibrahim mold in his bid to appease and caress the sentiment of the non-Malays. To me this is an ill-advised stance and, if it persists, would lead to further degeneration of our social order. The undercurrents of discontent to this state of affairs among the Malay majority would be to the detriment of UMNO and the BN and ultimately the nation itself.

As it is, the non-Malays have berpaling tadah en masse to Pakatan. They have tasted the intoxicating nectar of power and it is beyond Najib or anyone else to turn them over to the BN in the foreseeable future. Whatever goodies and giveaways thrown at these people now would just be wasted trump cards earning nothing in return. And these concessions are politically almost impossible to retract or take back once they are dished out.

My advise to Najib and his team is to lay off these wayward non-Malays for now. Ignore and forget these hopelessly seduced bigots and chauvinists and let them tango and cha cha and joget to their hearts content with the Pakatan gang until the honeymoon ends in a self-destructing calamity of scandals, failed expectations and infighting that would mushroom as PRU13 inches closer.

Najib should instead focus his energy on rebuilding the Malay support base for UMNO, and work towards some semblance of "Malay Unity" with PAS within 24 months as PAS drifts away on the choppy waves from the unwieldy, erratic Pakatan ship.

Whether it cares to admit or not, UMNO's future as the political ruler of this land has become inexorably tied to PAS' political machinations and leadership intrigue. If the pragmatic nationalists prevail over the orthodox dogmatists in PAS' own internal powerplay, the party will "see the light" and distance itself from Pakatan. And this would profoundly impact Malaysia's political dynamics.

What does it take to induce this seismic shift in Malay politics?

This is the kind of poser PM Najib and his inner circle must contemplate and strategise, the focal point of his quest to forge a solid political base that would facilitate the pursuance of his agenda for national renewal. Hence, the PM should not waste precious time indulging in Mandarin blogs and embracing untenable concepts touting perpetual social variegation that would further propel this nation into a ruinous existence. Najib need not fall over backwards to portray an ill-conceived and unrealistic pseudo-liberalist persona to a group already seduced and poisoned by the Pakatan charlatans.

I'm also boggled by PM Najib's embrace of vernacular schools. This was first demonstrated when he was DPM during the KT By-elections with his RM50 million gift to the SJKCs. I also sense in him a lax attitude towards language. Yes, we all noticed that his 1 Malaysia blog comes in three languages including Mandarin. Many patriots sent me notes on this, and a gentleman even wrote a strongly worded e-mail to Najib (copied to me) complete with a link to my Racial Polarisation post. Couldn't Najib see the ravages on our social cohesion caused by this cancerous SJK anomaly? Is he that ill-informed, out of touch, blissfully ignorant? Another Sleepyhead in the making? Indeed, is he really well read? Or has he become too dependent on ill-conceived briefing papers and abridged analyses percolating from some obscure basement labyrinth in Putrajaya?

My concern here is the quality of advise Najib is getting. At the moment, albeit still very early days, and as mentioned, he seemed more concerned with garnering non-Malay support than anything else. What do you think is currently going through the minds of Malay Nationalists, the bedrock of UMNO's support across the land?

Yes, Najib's 1 Malaysia concept is still in its infancy and will need further calibration, but thus far I don't see any clear blueprint or roadmap for the forging of a real Anak Bangsa Malaysia as I have exhaustively expounded.

What is the socio-political basis of 1 Malaysia? Yes, beyond the catchy jingoism? Indeed, way before we shout catchy slogans and nifty buzzwords that mean nothing beyond the superficial glitter and noisy razzmatazz, we must first forge a solid ideological foundation, an irrepressible philosophy that makes 1 Malaysia a natural, long-overdue social blueprint that would be embraced by the Rakyat as a matter of rational imperative. And this foundation of nation-building must be able to withstand the test of logical inquisition and critical analysis and prevail and flourish as something so profound, so necessary, so timely in this phase of our nation's existence.

To do this, Najib and his team must revisit the primordial building blocks of our nationhood. They themselves must understand history and will need to communicate to the Rakyat how and why we became what we are today and what needs to be done to recalibrate the trajectory of our social evolution. Explain the flawed prescriptions of the first 51 years of nationhood, including the utter neglect and confusion of the past six years, that collectively created an untenable multilingual, multicultural, multi-identity and multi-everything milieu forged on a brittle palate of overlapping realities pulled apart by the incompatible aspirations and divergent expectations of a mutually-estranged populace. Then expound why we have no choice but to recalibrate our societal dynamics to a new paradigm of shared affinities underpinned by a common, pervasive national language, Bahasa Malaysia, and a socio-cultural mold based on the budaya and tatasusila of the original Orang Melayu essence of this nation.

This is the immediate challenge for the PM and his team.

And my message to the subversive historio-revisionists: ponder and contemplate with much-needed humility the statements below by the pioneering leaders of the minority communities. This one-third of the Malaysian Rakyat has today deviated from their aspired place in our society and has been the main obstacle to nation-building, due in part to their complete and utter ignorance of Malaysian history.

The minorities must be infused with a sense of responsibility (which comes with the Kerakyatan package) to help forge a civil, progressive society, a common, irrepressible Bangsa Malaysia yang memartabatkan Satu Bahasa Satu Negara dan berlandaskan Satu Bangsa Satu Negara.

Quote from a speech by MIC President and Works, Telecom and Posts Minister, V.T. Sambanthan in the Dewan Rakyat on June 1, 1965:-

… in 1955 we won the elections with a great majority. Then we obtained freedom in two years time. During this period, we had to discuss citizenship and various other things. Now what did the Malays do -- since we are speaking on racial lines -- what did the Malay leadership do? They had 88 percent of the electorate still with them. What did they do with citizenship? If we look around in Asia and East Asia, particularly, you will find that my race the Indian race, is not welcomed in Ceylon, is not welcomed in Burma.

Look at my brother Chinese race, it is not welcomed in Thailand, in Vietnam, in Cambodia, in all the other areas. What help do they get for citizenship in all these territories? In Burma, as we know, Indians have been send packing, in Ceylon they refused them citizenship and in Burma it is likewise. I know it, you know it. And yet in Malaya what happened? Here we found that the Malay leadership said, "We shall take them unto ourselves as brothers, we shall give them full opportunity to live in this country, we shall give them every opportunity to become citizens." And so, in 1957, for the whole year, we waived language qualifications, and tens of thousand of Indians, Chinese, Ceylonese and others became citizens ...

As I said, it has been my great good fortune to have been born in this country. Where else can you find a more charitable, a more polite, a more decent race than the Malay race? Where else can you get such politically decent treatment for any immigrant race? Where else in the history of the world? I ask you. These are the facts. Who are you to safeguard us? I am a 10 percent minority race here. But I am happy here.

(Source: Tan Sri Khalid Awang Osman, Malaysia - An Anthology, Vantage Press, New York, p. 60)

Quote of statement by Tan Siew Sin, MCA President and Finance Minister in a local daily titled, "Tun Tan Answers Critics on Special Previleges" dated April 30, 1969:-

The Malays, through UMNO, were generous enough to relax the citizenship laws of this country to such extent that within 12 months of independence, 90 percent of the non-Malays became citizens. This was different to the situation before Merdeka whereas 90 percent of the non-Malays were still non-citizens after nearly 100 years of colonial rule in the Malay States. In return for this major concession. the MCA and the MIC agreed to continue the policy of preserving the special position of the Malays while at the same time upholding the legitimate interest of other communities.

(Source: Tan Sri Khalid Awang Osman, Malaysia - An Anthology, Vantage Press, New York, pp.38-39)

So there you have it. In no uncertain terms. In the public record. Unequivocal. Edged for posterity.

Read and reread carefully the profound statements by V.T. Sambanthan and Tan Siew Sin. Need I say anymore? Still want to deny facts? Still want to rewrite history? Still think you owe the Melayu Tuan Tanahs nothing? You exist as Warganegaras with all kinds of Hak and Keistimewaan on this Bumi Tanah Melayu out of your own volition, the sheer briliance of your species, as a natural right bestowed by some higher being?

No.

Reread the two statements. Instill a sense of Keinsafan and Sikap Berterimakasih to the Orang Melayu for your incredible good fortune to be able to live here and partake in your cultural excesses to your heart’s content with little fear or restrictions and even to the detriment of the Melayu Tuan Tanahs themselves. A little Sedar Diri and appreciation of your Asal Usul and Tempat Dalam Masyarakat would go a long way towards the rehabilitation of your groupthink, to cleanse your souls of the inherent mala fide and degenerative inclinations, and provide a glimmer of hope, albeit excruciatingly faint, of your embrace of the tenets of the true Bangsa Malaysia concept that I have expounded many times.

Again, go read the two statements and learn it by hard and repeat them to yourselves whenever you are inflicted by your peculiar primal urge to cause social mayhem and bedlam in my Tanah Air Tercinta.

KijangMas, Kembara, satD,

After reading preceding comments by Omong, Pakcik Dal, satD, Cenderawasih, Flaming Dayak and others, I got to feel you all are more serious about this project than I originally thought. Good to know that. And I'm proud of Flaming Dayak who feels strongly about the need for national unity for our country.

In order for the Memorandum to be respected, and heard, we must make it formidable in form and content. This may take more time than the end of the month. But we don't have to rush and submit it early May, do we? KM can write his Robin kopitiam post and we carry on our discussions in the Writeboard, can't we? We can call specific people commenting on the Robin post to the Writeboard as and when we need their views. By that time the major discussion on the project would probably have tapered anyway.

What say you, KM? I think you would feel more comfortable and confident submitting a Memorandum supported with data from Min of Ed etc and impressive resumes from zaza. If you agree, then we will discuss a new completion date.

I like satD's suggestion on how to catch the attention of the TPM, with Executive Summary, etc. I think satD has good knowledge and experience on the form and substance of impressive presentations - he must have received and/or prepared quite a number in his current and past portfolios. I sincerely propose that he leads the work he has outlined. I will assist in any way I can. This is a sincere proposal; I hope he accepts it and OK by KM.

satD may be in Jakarta and zaza in gay Paris but in cyber terms we are just next to one another. The important thing is that we get the best person to do the job. And I must confess that my capacity is limited to producing the thoughts and arguments contained in the draft proposal. Sincerely.

satD - I'm really hoping you agree. Will provide KM with my email after this. Salam.

Sepadu and DN Knights,

I note Sepadu's points above. Agreed, lets make it a document worth putting our names into. And yes, bro satD will lead in the formulation of the complete package, including formatting of our collective narratives and collation of key supporting data.

Folks, I may be the signer and DN may be the cyber "NGO platform," but all of your names should also be recorded in a "list of concerned DN Community members" to be appended in the memo as well. Those with their own blogs will be recognised as such.

This is just the beginning of potentially an epic campaign. Personally, I will not rest until this SJK menace is eradicated from our Tanah Air. FYI, I've received many e-mails of support from lurkers who prefer to watch our endeavour from the sidelines. Hence, a lot of our fellow patriots are counting on us. And I'm sure a lot of people are reading and watching as this project unfolds. I think this kind of open access online collaboration by a blogging community is unprecedented in this country. And kudos for you Sepadu for initiating it.

Having said that, lets just go ahead and discuss the form and content of the memo freely here and at Writeboard. Sometimes thoughts are spontaneous and must be disseminated where convenient, and this can be at either site. I can see Kembara is excited by this challenge; didn't even bother to do his blogger log-in anymore (Kembara, your sewa for this month waived). And Rezuan has been a revelation. See what we can achieve if we just shut up and just listen to the arguments among the Knights here.

As for the memo submission, yes, quality is more important than speed. But it is necessary to have a target timeframe to optimise our collective attention and instill a sense of urgency. Sepadu, do discuss with satD and the rest and suggest a new target completion date. And yes, even when the Robin post appears, we'll just continue our discussion in that post's comment section in addition to Writeboard.

Sepadu, the additional narratives proposed in your comment of April 22, 2009 9:11 AM look relevant to the argument. Do get them inserted into the memo and we'll review the updated version at Writeboard for logic flow and clarity.

I hope Mat C. and Apo can assist as well.

Yes. This J Victor factor for an eg. and the question of who voted for her .. even despite all that, Kurtu and gang still insist that Malays ore bigoted racist ...

Despite the fact that Samy V and other non-Malay candidates are / were voted in by a Malay majority constituencies .. Kurtu NgehNga Singh majesties still insist that "Malay pendatangs????" are begotten racists ...

And when these people are voted out by their own kind ... the Malays are still the punching bags racists.

Why and how all these sad turn of events come by?

The Main cause is ... the Malays remain divided ... and the subsidiary causes are well said and as gleaned in mountain of blogs all over the blogosphere.

Kurtu / Kurathu;

At best you are a distraction. At worst you .. everybody seems to love this kutu pesty mosquito.

I don’t care two hoots of what you claimed me to be. I deny nor affirm .. as long as Unker Yew plays his usual batu api part .. I’m safe.

I may be this or that or young or ancient .. as long as it gives you satisfaction of deluding yourself (and to add to your collection of delusions about all things around you) .. I am amply rewarded. The more you lie to yourself, (about me or anything else for that matter), the more I’m / we are satisfied.

Heh heh, if you are not happy about the plights of those 800 (817 to be exact) village chiefs you appointed, why don’t you appoint your self to all those 800 posts? I think it would be more than enough to compensate your people’s loss when that Siva got himself kick out (by himself) out of Perak-whatever-he-makes-of-that-House to be.

I personally think that those 800+ chiefs would be happier and better off working for other than SivaNgehNga gang. Good (honest-to-goodness) riddance of bad pollutants anyway.

You talk of Waythamoorthy? It sounds like gangrenous tongue lapping a terminally advanced and chronic cancerous leper. In a country of 100 there are only 3 Indians splintered into 3 groups. And now your idol Waytha wants to form another party? What can ¾ of you do? What do you and Waytha hope to achieve? Tuan KijangMas was right saying you came from SRJKT into Remove Class .. you failed to get even your simple arithmetic right.

We good Malaysians here prayed and work days and nights that our Indian brothers would be one, with one voice and to stand as one (anywhere as long as you are all one) .. then we can move forward from there. Lets improve our collective lots. Don’t get yourself polluted by the likes of Waytha ... be they of Malay or Chinese origin.

Of course, it goes without saying, when you make rooms for people like the “Waythas, the Anuars, and the Kits” in your ostrich brain, there exists no more room in it for people like TDM. That’s why you have only hate for The Grand Statesman Sage of the age.

And I told you to bring your coconut to us to get your personal internal problem sorted out. What did you do when you got one single kelapa buntat the other day? You and your Gagak tried to doctor yourselves. Why? Too shy to come to us?

You did not trust your shaman Sami. You did not trust yourself. You sure won’t trust us. So you turn to your Gagak.

While flinging the coconut she screamed the mantra, “T U K A R SATU”. What’s up doc. Suddenly Gagak scream. Then you scream. What happen what happen?

You end up with her ....., and she ends up with your anu. One on one exchange.

The secret is Kurtu, you should cancel out that baby sized tooot of yours first. You cannot just tukar semua satu kali.

Now I don’t know to whom I’m talking, Kurtu or Gagak. I guess you are not yourself anymore.

But please do come over and help at our Writeboard. We need tenacious character like you.

Salam all, sorry for the late response.

By the way, I have not read the whole document yet. If there is one area that need to be looked at is the Education Act 1996 itself.

The Education Act clearly defies the spirit of the Constitution.

After all, in Article 152 of the Constitution, in which the existence of vernacular schools rely heavily upon had stated;

1. The national language shall be the Malay language and shall be in such script as Parliament may by law provide: Provided that-

* (a) no person shall be prohibited or prevented from using (otherwise than for official purposes), or from teaching or learning, any other language; and
* (b) nothing in this Clause shall prejudice the right of the Federal Government or of any State Government to preserve and sustain the use and study of the language of any other community in the Federation.

6. In this Article, “official purpose” means any purpose of the Government, whether Federal or State, and includes any purpose of a public authority.

It clearly says there that you are free to learn and teach other languages. But it specifically did not say you have the freedom to learn History or Geography or Mathematics or Science in your mother tongue.

Again let me stress here, you have the right to learn and teach your mother tongue. Full stop. The Constitution did not say you have the right to LEARN any other subjects in your mothertongue.

And the term “official purposes” clearly clarifies the situation further. It means, whatever the Government thinks is ’official’, and especially if it deemed to be in the domain of public (read: majority) authority.

Thus, does the majority think the existence of vernacular schools, where the learning of most subjects are carried out not in the national language, are in line with the Constitution? Does the government feel that the vernacular schools fall under what we call as an ‘official’ education system? How can we have 3 education systems, with three separate languages as the medium of learning within one country?

Meanwhile, the Education Act 1996 clearly stated in its mission policy:

“AND WHEREAS the above policy is to be executed through a national system of education which provides for the national language to be the main medium of instruction, a National Curriculum and common examinations; the education provided being varied and comprehensive in scope and which will satisfy the needs of the nation as well as promote national unity through cultural, social, economic and political development in accordance with the principles of Rukunegara“

And the first aspiration in Rukunegara is ‘mencapai perpaduan yang lebih erat di kalangan seluruh masyarakatnya’ .

That is why I see no logic in the Education policy of Malaysia. At one hand, it desire Malaysia to have unity among the races but on the other hand, it tries to defeat the Constitution and Rukunegara by allowing (not yet mandatory) vernacular school systems. To this end, I urge the Government to relook into the Education law as it does not conform to the spirit of the Constitution. Thank you.

Please read my past article here and the arguments in the commentary section.

Thank you.

PUTRAJAYA: In a sweeping move towards liberalising the economy, the government yesterday removed the 30 per cent Bumiputera quota on equity ownership in 27 service sub-sectors

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak will take the move a step further next week with a major announcement involving the financial sector.

The sub-sectors affected with immediate effect are health and social services, tourism services, transport, business and the computer industry and related services.

He also announced that the legal profession had also been liberalised to allow up to five top international law firms with expertise in international Islamic finance to practise here.

Najib, who is also finance minister, said the move would attract more investment and bring in more professionals and technology, besides strengthening competitiveness in the sectors.

"The services sector is an important component of the national economy, contributing 55 per cent to the gross domestic product last year. Of this, 47.6 per cent was contributed by non-government services."

He said the sector accounted for 57 per cent of total employment in the country.

The government, he added, would intensify the tapping of the full potential of the services sector as a new growth area in the economy to raise its contribution to 60 per cent of GDP as targeted in the Third Industrial Masterplan.

Najib said the government would be progressively undertaking liberalisation of other services sub-sectors on an ongoing basis.

"The liberalisation of the services sector is being pursued with the view of creating a conducive environment to attract investments, technology and create higher-value employment opportunities.

"The initiatives will not adversely affect the domestic services industry as the government will continue to support the industry in capacity-building and in the opening up of export markets.

"In fact, this move was decided based on response and acceptance of the sector," he said.

It was also part of Kuala Lumpur's commitment towards an Asean agreement in liberalising the sector.

if the argument(by najib) is that the NEP has been abused, then the core issue of corruption n enrichment by umno elites and their little napoleons must be addressed and the proper people must benefit!!! bukannya dismantle terus!

now the malay kids will remain peons, pizza boys, drebar bus, mat rempit forever under this stupid liberalisation polishit of najib's.

Some law must be passed for every gomen servant to have their kids study HERE so they realise the weaknesses and make every effort to improve the system since they are also at the losing end.

Must STOP this elitism crap once and for all. Nak further studies grad level ok la...tapi dari a to z kat luar negara, what do they care what happens to OUR future generations who have no such options?

maybe that is also one issue to be raised in the memo.

lack of pride and belief in the nation's OWN educational institutions by the ruling elites lead to the current state of low quality higher education here in Malaysia. They know there can always go elsewhere while the Malay masses becomes dropouts and failures and rempits and busboys and Giant/Jusco girlcashiers who cant compete with the best of the them.

Live Volunteers are needed for the Data Collection Mission for MOE..you will not be harmed in the process..worst case u will have a sample of how "efficient" our civil service....

A big tenkayu for Mr JMD- of JebatMustDie....for the solid arguments provided in his post n the comment section here....your assistance to improve the arguments further in the memo is greatly appreciated.

Cheers folks.....

Anonymous said...

JMD,

Thanks for your input. I know you are very knowledgeable in these matters and am delighted at your joining us in what we are proposing to do.

My initial reaction on your comment is:

1. Since SJKs practise the study of other subjects in other languages, they should be out
2. Even study of Mandarin only is still questionable - it's not the mother tongue of any of the Chinese communities here. It's the official language of a foreign country, tends to link the pupils with the Motherland and undermines their respect for our National and Official Language, and their patriotism for this country. They may study it outside normal school hours, considered as a non-school activity.
3. "official purpose" = whatever the Governmment deems official. This is what we are trying to do -
ask the Government to deem it so.
4. "domain of public (read majority) authority". This is the crux of the matter. How is "majority" defined in this context? What and who constitutes the majority? What is the measure, the yardstick?

Folks,

We must discuss and find answers to the above and related questions. Pakcik Dal, Omong, Cenderawasih, Kembara, Tembeleng, Phonont, Laser Blade, Anak Iban Semanggang, Anons, not-so-recent and past commentators - how about it? Of course, KijangMas might also want to give new angles, re-state or re-cast the past views he has given. You too, satD and zazaland, if you are not too busy ...

You can give your views here. Whenever you want to check whatever is being said in the draft memo, do visit the Writeboard at http://123.writeboard.com/3745261716cdeb5c0.

We must seriously ponder and discuss JMD's (Jebat Must Die) points raised in his comment and also see other points in his blog post and comments, link given above.

I particularly like his words: "no-logic three education systems" with 3 separate languages. We certainly must incorporate some of his observations in the Memorandum.
JMD, would you like to suggest the ones close to your heart that may not have been mentioned in the draft?

Like KijangMas, JMD frequently gives highly respectable opinions on national unity issues. He also tries endlessly to bring the wayward commentators to his blog into line. Let's hope this Memorandum would lead to the Government bringing the misled and the misguided into the mainstream of Malaysian society.

Salam everyone, especially Tuanku KijangMas.

Let me enlighten everyone here about what I've observed in France with regards to their Education system and what it has contributed to nation building. Before that, let me tell all of you here that I've lived in France for donkey years, and I think I've the right to comment on their system, be it political, social or educational.

The Education system in France has no contenders. Everybody goes to
French schools. The language of instruction is French, no one says NO to it, not even the "pendatangs", it is not the country that has to bend to them, it is the other way around. I tried to find Chinese schools in Paris and other parts of France, but I cannot find as there is no
Chinese school like SJKC in M'sia.

Being schooled in French national schools is part of Govt's effort to integrate its non-native French
citizens ....As to my personal
experience, these "foreigners" are fully integrated ...they think as
French .. sometimes you find their children eat only French food, they say that THEIR French cuisine is the best in the world, using only French products, spending holidays only in France so as to promote the French inner economy etc, the level of patriotism is really strong.

One of them is someone called R. (R. is a minor, I won't disclose his real name). He is 50% French and 50% Asian. He goes to a French school from young. He is nearly 14 yrs old now, and his patriotism to the French flag, to France itself is very strong. He says that he is 100% French - much to the chagrin of his mother who is Asian. Never, never say anything bad about France in front of him ....he'll give you a piece of his mind in front of you, he won't hold back because you're insulting HIS country. I've seen his wrath, folks. Don't play play with this French garçon. Good news for the French Government, this is also a phenomenon amongst young French kids....whatever origin or backgrounds they are from ....

So, you see folks, the benefits of going to a National school, with one language to unite everyone from diverse backgrounds, be it religion, race etc. This is what we should aim for folks, for Malaysia Tercinta.

Btw, just for info, the teachings of the language of the original country of any foreigner or the learning of its culture can be
done by various associations only - in a private capacity .....NOT
in French schools, it is prohibited. Period. Ever wonder why the French are sometimes known as proud people? One needs to check their education system since their tender age ie. from 3 yrs old onwards.

Sincerely, we should follow this system. Malaysian education system should be able to produce this kind of patriotism if implemented the same way. Wouldn't it be nice to have real Malaysians speaking the same language, eating the same food, having the same patriotism? Think about it folks, whether you are the Bumis or the 2nd/3rd generation "pendatang" Malaysians, think about the future generations. There is no point of being Malaysians if you are not able to communicate with fellow Malaysians in fluent Bahasa Malaysia. Why should you converse in a foreign language of your ancestors who came from faraway lands? Be like the French "pendatangs" ...you'll be happier!

tarsem said...

I am Sikh. I also am sick of the produce of the SJKs. And for that reason alone, you have my support.

Let the PM know it, let him know it is a real serious matter, let him know it has support of all races.

KijangMas said...

Zaza,

Now that's a profound piece that further supports the need for ONE National School system in this country, speaking in our own Bahasa Malaysia.

Salam sdr. JMD,

Good to see you here. Yes, the Constitutional Angle forms the backbone of our contention. I’ve studied it extensively and, as mentioned here, there really is no basis for any other school-type in our nation except for the Sekolah Kebangsaan, just like any other sovereign land on the face of this planet. Of course, beyond Constitutional issues, the "political will" is the biggest factor. Do we as the majority populace have the will to push this educational reform? Have our political representatives translated this collective will into definitive policy decisions? What about our national political leadership? Are they even thinking along the same lines, or are they busy scrambling to redefine and further redefine the hollow 4th Floor Boys-concocted 1 Malaysia concept that further variegate the ethnic groups into distinct chunks that just need to practice “mutual appreciation and empathy” while steadfastly clinging to the very distinctions that divided them in the first place?

Hence, going forward beyond this comprehensive affirmation of the Constitutional Basis of our stand, we will embark on a campaign to inculcate the political will, the semangat keperwiraan, necessary to push this reform.

Do share your thoughts in DN and lets work together to forge a better Malaysia, a true Malaysia, a united Malaysia -- cohesively thinking in one mind and proudly speaking in one voice -- for the sake of our future generations.

Somers,

Thanks for the nice words.

But I think we don't have anything to hide, really. All we are doing is speaking for a united and cohesive Bangsa Malaysia and saying that the impediments for the emergence of that Bangsa Malaysia should be removed. Whatever arguments and data we furnish are in support of that.

We have no hidden agenda and are not politically inclined. We are simply concerned citizens, wanting a better and lasting future for the generations to come.

KijangMas, this blog owner, and other blogs like Jebat Must Die (JMD) have been speaking for a united Malaysian society openly for years. They have put out all the arguments for that. KijangMas has written on the concept of a true Bangsa Malaysia in pretty firm and tough manner in several postings because he, and most of us in this DN community, feel very strongly about the need for it. As he said in an earlier comment, it's not about recommending repressive and unfair measures. It's about getting fair chances for creating the environment suitable for the emergence of a united and cohesive Bangsa Malaysia.

Thank you for your concern. If you are new here, I think I can say on behalf of the others as well - welcome. I like your attitude of being concerned for others. Let's together be concerned for the future of our beloved country.

Anonymous said...

Friends,

While you are thinking about the logo that Omong and KijangMas talk about, can we also talk about the independent nature of the (a) Study Team and (b) the Education System Review Committee that we propose be set up?

What constitutes independence?
What kind of people considered to be independent? What qualifications, experience and background? How to determine if a person has vested interest or a hidden agenda? Would membership of a political party alone disqualifies a person, deemed partisan? Etcetra.

Can some one kick the ball rolling and start the discussion? Omong, Cendrawasih, Pakcik Dal and any one else.

We can add to the draft any point that is arrived at by consensus.

If I may Tuan Sepadu, one way to quickly move forward is for Tuan KijangMas to pick who to head what (the way he picked your goodself and Gen SatD - if no one volunteers like Kembara and Rezuan did).

And if I may (not to be too presumptuous) good people like Dot, NJ and Omong (judging by the way they present their arguments and facts in their blog or comments) can be offered to shoulder some tugas too. I am of the opinion that if our group are manned from by individuals of all colours or whatever .. and if we can push forward such ideas as
this our present endeavor, I think it's an added credibility for us and an added feather in everybody's hat.

Bang Mat Cendana and I think NJ fit well into this category - listen to MC when he talks about PAS and UMNO - being neither here nor there yet he is very much here and there. I think many others are like that. Hope they come forward - and soon.

Sorry Tuan Sepadu, saya cakap banyak, padahal saya sendiri tak terbuat. Bandingkan dengan kepakaran IT Gen SatD dan that wheez kid Rezuan, mine is stagnant at zaman jin bertendang dulu. KijangMas said...

Salams all,

Excellent collaborative effort thus far. This matter is actually of utmost urgency as the very essence of our nationhood, our National Language, is attacked and eroded by subversives of all stripes almost by the day.

This is my interim guidance:-

The submission package will be refined and re-synthesised as we work on it. My own inclination is towards culling rather than adding any more branches and sub-branches. We should not be addressing too many issues. We must resist the temptation of dwelling too much on the ancillary matters, which may distract the TPM from our primary message.

Hence the memo subject heading is crucial in defining the scope of our submission. To reiterate, our main objective is to call for the abolishment of vernacular schools and push for a singular National School system conducted in Bahasa Malaysia (except for certain subjects).

The rationale is two-pronged:-

- One, there is no Constitutional provision for multiple language streaming of our schools. Education is an official matter of state, and per our Constitution, all such matters must be conducted in one language and one language only, our national language, Bahasa Malaysia. The supremacy of Bahasa Malaysia is also a matter of strategic national interest and a public good of the highest priority. Anything that transgresses this public good (in this case Vernacular Schools), by definition, are unconstitutional and must be removed from our social realm.

- Two. The segregation of our citizens from a very young and impressionable age (via vernacular schools) has become the single biggest impediment to the creation of a true Bangsa Malaysia unified by a common identity, mindset and language. After 51 years of Merdeka, a large proportion of MyCard-carrying Warganegara Malaysia are functional-illiterates in the language of their country of citizenship, and are incapable of partaking in the process of nation-building and social integration expected of citizens of any nation in this world.

The memo shall also propose the necessary measures towards the the re-synthesization of our educational framework.

The challenge for our group is to create a crisp, concise submission that has all the pertinent facts and supported by definitive data without being unwieldy and
rambling in different directions. We must aim for optimised logic flow and smooth transition between the various issue modules.

The positives:-
- The main content is already in place. The task now is to organize it into coherent logic modules to optimize viewer comprehension of our message.
- The anecdotal evidence, e.g., Zaza's excellent French example, further enhances our arguments. Other examples (both foreign prescriptions and local SJKC "nightmare" stories as related by "kfahmis" at Writeboard) will add to our compelling argument.

Challenges:-
- To formulate a crisp, concise submission, incorporating the key points and supporting data and facts, without inducing tedium (dry, monotonous rhetoric) or triggering distractions (too many micro–issues and ancillary storylines) on the reader.
- The need for logical flow and readability of the submission.
- To maintain focus on the main messages.
- To create a compelling argument to be accepted as a rational and strategic imperative by the TPM as the Education Minister, his senior officials, and for that matter any bona fide Malaysian citizen irrespective of background and ethnicity.
- To position the submission as the catalysts for further official deliberations and actions.

I can see a lot of ground has been covered, not least by the Project Champions, Sepadu and satD, supported by the enthusiastic energy of Kembara Politik and Rezuan Asrah. I'm also pleased that JMD has voiced his support and I look forward to his active involvement. And I am humbled by the effort of Zazaland, who took the trouble to relate her first-hand observation in a foreign land and expended her own resources to secure detailed research materials. Many others have contributed in the form of related reports and research findings, including Cenderawasih and Omong. Dot, NJ and others, give us your thoughts. Mari kita bertukar pendapat. Tembeleng, hujung minggu sudah tiba. Silakan. And Pakcik Dal, I expect you as DN's Orang Kuat to guide your anak-anak buah at Writeboard.

At this juncture, I call upon fellow patriots to assist Kembara and Sepadu in the formulation and refinement of the Bahasa Malaysia narratives. You know who you are. Many have discussed at length with me privately via e-mail. My message: Come out into the open. Let’s work together. No opinion or contribution is “too small.” Individually we may be small; collectively, we are giants. And we will only get stronger. Because what we do is Right, for our Tanah Air Tercinta, for our Zuriat. Insya’Allah.

Going forward, I hope to be able to review in the near term an interim WIP version, with the BM narratives organised per satD’s format. The data and reference materials can be sighted later. I want to get a feel of the storyline and will suggest any refinements upon the first round review.

To the DN Knights, Syabas! This is the Demi Negara way. We don’t just Talk, we Walk.

Dear DN community

The new Education Minister may be deliberating on issues concerning the whole education system.

My suggestion is that this critical message MUST reach him before he cements policies.

The supporting evidence and data can actually come later. In fact it is the ministry' duty to compile empirical evidence to formulate and refine policies.

Anecdotal evidence should suffice to persuade him to relook at existing flaws in the comprehensive education system.

A video on the products of these vernacular schools may have a multi-dimensional impact. Say a video-capture of pirated CD sellers speaking in alien languages etc etc could convince the Education Minister to suspend all formulation until thorough and professional studies are carried out.

It is also crucial that as many rakyat get on board as fast as possible.

This is where the logo and the online petition could come in handy.

I need to apologise for not being able to offer more than just my cyber thoughts for a very GOOD reason.

Mungkin agaknya,

Langkah 1 - mempertimbangkan pengemaskinian Sekolah Wawasan kepada Sekolah Wawasan Aliran Kebangsaan dan Sekolah Wawasan Aliran Inggeris (seperti sistem dulu yg pernah dilaksanakan)

Langkah 2 - implement Sekolah Wawasan ini keseluruh negara (tak payah pilih-pilih kawasan lagi)

Langkah 3 - Maktubkan hanya satu Aliran saja apabila sampai masanya.

1 - no more public fund for SRJK
2 - anything not Wawasan, use your own fund la (first step), lepas tu lenyapkan terus dari bumi tercinta ini (next step) - and a law is created to forbid this menace like Zaza cerita yang kat France tu

Saja nak bertanya Tuan Direktor Sepadu.

I agree with Tuanku KijangMas that we should not discuss too many sub topics, the gist of our memo should be highlighted in a precise and concise manner. The TPM is a busy man, so he needs to read and absorb at the same time, let's help him with his task, shall we?

Tuan,

Unlike you, I wasn't so elated by the spectacle of boisterous youth swooping on poor Karpal (in your last post) on his silver chariot. They probably deserve each other. Karpal in his youth was a reasonable man, but in his twilight years he has gone a bit senile and not a little striken by ego. But yes, your lunch with the two sad figures of Malaysian politics did give me a smile. Imagine, one's a man so in love and much loved by the World Bank and the IMF that when he was out in the wilderness they immediately attached him to their dollar drip. How not to be curious about where he's coming from? And the other, a man so into his narcoleptic gaga-ness that he was able to think up this idea of Islam Hadari in satu hari with someone named Khairi.

But the most suitable case for treatment is PAS. Are they so filled with hate that anything grabbable will do? Imagine the ketayap men standing idiot-like among the Islampohobic, Malay hating chauvinistic ranters, and thinking that they're very clever.

Read all those literature coming out of that Temasek land. Hear all those slogans spouting from mouths that have been fed by the Singa of pura-pura. Do Malays exist? No, they say. This land Malaysia was an empty-land, unpeopled had it not been for the migrants from India and China. And then of course Indonesia. In the land of Pura-Pura, Malays cannot be Malays per se. They are Javanese, Baweans, Batak, whatever. A land without a people, wonder where they got that from? Malays coming from Indonesia? Oh, whooo, isn't this the Malay Nusantara world? Have they forgotten that Sumatra and the peninsula were one piece of land before the great flood?

But let's forget all these and say that no one's driving them out of this land that they mock unendingly. But every nation needs a language, an identity. 1 Malaysia can be a good idea, but let Najib get it right. The poor man needs a guide. Keep up the good work Kijang is all I want to say. People like you and Jebat Must Die are valuable.

Unfortunately, in the history text books, the power that be in Singapore already tries to portray this kind of scenario. How come they never talk about my Malay ancestors? They should know the famous Kallang River, the Orang Lauts that inhabited at the mouth of this river and other rivers that can be found in the South, South East and South West of Singapore. I haven't touched on the rivers in other parts of Singapore yet. What about those people in various islands out of Singapore (which are still part of the Malay Archipelago?).

Guess who did the Singapore Govt ask for advice on this? Yeah, your guess is as good as mine.

Remember what they like to say, Palestine is a land without people and the Jews are people without land? And where is Palestine? it is in the heart of the Arab world, just like Singapore ...in the heart of the Malay world. Excuse me, I wanna puke.

Salam Sejahtera,

Saya paparkan di sini petikan-petikan dari buku:-

The Malay Dilemma – Mahathir bin Mohammad (Tun Dr. Mahathir, yes!)
(published in 1981 – first published in 1970 by Federal Publications).

Semua petikan hanyalah dari satu Bab iaitu Chapter 6 – The bases of National Unity

The bases of National Unity.
2. The American model
3. The Switzerland model

Petikan- Petikan :-

The Natural Model

The basis of national unity, simply stated, is a single ethnic group possessing a common LANGUAGE, culture and religion confined within an area of definite geographical boundaries.

In the days when communication was poor and travelling was minimal, “nations” were merely extensions of tribal organizations which in turn were extensions of combined or extended family.

The sense of loyalty and unity within a nation was brought about by the ability to understand A COMMON LANGUAGE , culture and religion.

(Komen saya – pretty much like our old Malaysia, di mana hampir keseluruhannya termasuk imigiran asal bertutur dalam Bahasa Kebangsaan.

The American Model

In modern times, the United States of America became a great experiment in nation building.
After gaining independence, the settlers of Anglo-Saxon stock began admitting immigrants of different ethnic and racial stocks with different religions, cultures and languages.

The question was whether the adoption and not the inheritance of a COMMON LANGUAGE and culture could create LOYALTY to a given legal state.

(Komen – pretty much seperti Malaysia juga keadaannya ini)

New immigrants ranged from Chinese to Russians. Practically every ethnic and language group was included. Knowledge of English, the OFFICIAL LANGUAGE among immigrants was minimal or nil, as was knowledge of the culture and historical background of the United States. Out of this polygot mixture of people, national UNITY was built PRIMARILY on a basis of LANGUAGE .

(Komen – Memanda Menteri kita proudly announced that his website was now available in Chinese language, after putting Bahasa Kebangsaan second to English – aik? Memanda? Lee kong what? Yen Nadeh! Tarak faham la tambi! - quiz hari ini – teka apa bangsa saya? heheheh)

The 13 colonies were settled by people who spoke English, and they and their descendents were core o f the nation.

Here an important principle was established and UPHELD – immigrants wishing to be nationals HAD TO LEARN ENGLISH as the national language and its acceptance had to be complete, and the language actually SPOKEN in EVERYDAY LIFE. There was no question of saying “We accept English as the official language of the United States”, and then ignoring it

(komen – Perdana Menteri kita membuat Contoh Perdana mengenai perkara ini bila mengumumkan website dia dalam bahasa Chinese? Ayo ! yo! Yo!

Much less was there any suggestion that immigrant languages should be placed ANYWHERE NEAR English or even OFFICIALLY TOLERATED

Apa macam bang?)

Indeed, it was a CONDITION OF CITIZENSHIP, implied through LOYALTY to THE CONSTITUTION, that new citizen of non-Anglo Saxon origin DID NOT HAVE THE RIGHT to insist on parity of any other language with English.

(komen – Kad Pengenalan biru telah diberikan! Macamana ni?!! Nak kena start semula? I feel stupid to speak Malay..owww.. what say you, buntut heetame? “ Saya berterimakasih kepada seorang artis itu kerana menyedarkan/mengejutkan masyarakat terhadap keujudan kaum-kaum ultra moden ini)

Having created a society in which the people literally UNDERSTOOD EACH OTHER, a national culture was allowed to develop freely. But because language is so inextricably tied with culture, the result was a mainly Anglo-Saxon culture, distinct in its ability to accept modified non-British influences. In this way NATIONAL UNITY WAS ACHIEVED without the need for a common ethnic origin, geographical barriers and religion.

However certain auxiliary controls were used. EDUCATION IS ALMOST EXCLUSIVELY IN ENGLISH.

(Komen – sebelum saya terlupa, penekanan Bahasa Kebangsaan hendaklah juga dibuat di sekolah tadika, tabika, taman asuhan etc etc lagi, bukan start di sekolah Kebangsaan)

The American experiment of nation building was repeated with apparent success in the Latin American countries and in Australia. To these countries, as to the United States, people of various races emigrated, accepted and used the established language, learnt to respect the symbols of nationhood, and became a UNITED people, RECOGNIZABLE and internationally DISTINCTIVE.

LANGUAGE thus seems to be the KEY to national UNITY

(komen – Satu Bangsa, Satu Negara, Satu Bahasa – kan dah lama lagu Malaysia Berjaya ni dinyanyikan, bagaimana kalau kita buat permintaan khas di radio meminta supaya Memanda Menteri kita menyanyikan lagu ini sekali.. just for fun…hehehhe)

The Switzerland Model

But this emphasis on language as a unifying force provokes the retort that Switzerland has proved that a single national language is not essential for national unity. Those who cite Switzerland as an example ignore quite a number of things that are UNIQUE to the Swiss and to Switzerland.

Switzerland is held together not so much by internal unity as by the forces outside, the nations around her, for whom Switzerland acts as a buffer, an outlet and neutral ground during disputes. For Switzerland there can only be one role – NEUTRALITY.

The excitement of power politics and wars is not for her.

Internally the wealth of Switzerland lies in the skill of her people and the political calm that lures tourists. These things proper most when politics have the least influence. Thus, for both external and internal reasons the Swiss abhor politics. At a recent general election (komen – buku ini first published in 1970) hardly anybody contested or voted, and the same government has remain in power simply because no one has been interested in politics. In this atmosphere language cannot become a political issue. It can neither unite or divide.

Swiss are all Europeans – the French and Italian speaking being of Latin origin, and the German speaking being Teitonic. All groups being of a European culture which is almost uniform, they found no difficulty in blending in Switzerland.

>>> end of petikan

Pengalaman saya:-
1. Di sebuah tadika, hari keluarga. Seorang cikgu, MC sedang mengunakan mikrofon:-

“Parent and children, are you enjoy yourself?”
“Remember tomorrow is school at usual”
Lepas tu chong cheng chong cheng (bahasa bunyi macam katok tin kosong)

So?

Joe : Your friend there, is Malaysian right ? (pointing to my other friend)

Yes.

Joe: But why he said he is Chinese?

(see? Orang luar tak faham Malaysia truly Rojak ni)

The first thing he said, “This is America. Please speak American!”

NJ,

Thanks for reminding me about TDM's statements in his famous book. I plan to include a few sentences in the draft and extract the relevant paras from your comment.

The book was at one time proscribed, the ban must have been lifted during TDM's PMship. But can some one verify the ban has definitely been officially lifted?

Please visit the wordboard and see the areas regarding enclosures to the draft that you can help further. Your contributions are well appreciated.

Datuk Keramat,

I also have quite a bit to say about the issue you raise. But right now, I wonder if you like to help like what I've requested of NJ above. If you would, just go to the link highlighted in Rezuan Arsah's comment quite a bit earlier on and to the Lampiran-Lampiran checklist. Would appreciate your recommendations on those if you care to make them.

Erniceda,

Good to hear from you. I'm afraid we can't invite you to participate in the writing of this Memo lest people accuse us of bringing outside help. I'm sure you would understand. Salam.

Omong,

Your point is well taken. I have consulted KijangMas and I think he will say something here not too long from now.

Can you help with the video thing? Or atleast recommending the enclosures B,C & D in the checklist at the bottom of the 26.4.09 revised Memo. Appreciate your constructive views.

Pakcik Dal, Cenderawasih and others,

Thanks also for your constructive views and hope for your recommendations on what to be enclosed, as above. We need many good articles to support our arguments in the Memo. To avoid duplicity in search efforts, would appreciate you jotting down here or on the wordboard which blog, documents etc that you are searching so that others can go to other posts or blogs. Remember a lot of posts, since quite a few years ago.

Look forward to your help, ladies and gentlemen. Hopefully it can be wrapped in a week. Please disregard any unwelcome comments that might appear in this blog; we must not get distracted and we have better things to do than reacting to them. Hope I sound as polite as I intended it to be. No ill but good intentions only. Salam.

Omong’s points (April 25, 2009 4:41 PM) make a lot of sense and reflect my own views on the matter.

Omong, your idiom "fools seldom differ" strikes again ...

While a comprehensive dissertation with slick stats and glitzy graphics would be nice, I feel we already have enough profound points and anecdotes to present a compelling argument.

Lets now focus on enhancing, refining and completing whatever we already have in hand and can reasonably incorporate into the memo. This memo shall be the initial statement of position from the Demi Negara Community and will be the catalyst for substantive deliberations on the matter here and elsewhere.

What we have collectively done this past week was to forge a grassroot citizens platform to push for a singular school system in Malaysia. We have eloquently stated our thoughts and feelings on this menace to our nationhood and have shared our personal experiences and observations of other nations, on how pendatangs in other lands adapt, integrate and immerse into the host nations’ socio-cultural essence as a matter of course.

Demi Negara will continue to push for the creation of a single, unified and inclusive School System in our beloved Tanah Air. One system for all.

SATU SEKOLAH UNTUK SEMUA.

Sdr. Sepadu, I look forward to the pre-final draft for review and we’ll wrap this up before the end of next week.

In the meantime, I will review and reply to some of the comments sent here, not least from the phony tak-boleh-cakap-BM Anak BangsaT Malaysia, the Dong Jiao Donkey Kong subversives, the Makkal Pundeks, and assorted variants of these Malaysia-wrecking mutants.

Datuk Keramat & Ernicida

I can't have much time to write for the time being but can't help wanting to say -

Tell those blahdy fellows to go to the archives in England and Holland (the two colonialists who kept a lot of records) and see the maps of 17th Century Nusantara with such words written on them as "Principal Territories in the Malay Archipelago" showing the entire Maphilindo region - from Malaya, Sumatra to Philippines right to part of New Guinea.

Even the Filipinos refer to their nationalist leader Jose Rizal as "Our Malay Hero". Books have been written on it. The blahdy colonialists and missionaries have separated us into 2-3 religious groups, diluting the socio-cultural definition of a Malay, the depth and extent of our Malay identity.

Of course the blahdy fellows would not want to read those and want to say even the oppposite. That's why we must keep on writing, we must constantly try to disabuse their ill-intended, rotten and imbecile propaganda at every opportunity. They have exploited our good nature, politeness and generosity, and ridden over us time and again in the past. We must not keep quiet and grin in bewilderment.

Sdr Sepadu; (bahan utk lampiran C1)
Macam inikah yang dikehendaki?

Taken from JMD at http://jebatmustdie.wordpress.com/2009/01/01/new-year-resolutions/

1) JMD in rebutting commentator ngnglee:
JMD : Thank you for the comment. The usage of other languages, fall under the clause 1(a) of Article 152 which clearly stated - “no person shall be prohibited or prevented from using (otherwise than for official purposes)” and official purposes means what the government think is official and that does not contravene with what the public think is good for them.
Does teaching children in school not fall under what we term is ‘official’? And does that impedes the majority wishes to see a more streamlined education?
Only you can answer that. I stated this very same thing in this article. Please reread.
Let me make it simpler; the usage of Mandarin and Tamils as the medium of instruction in their respective schools are against the Constitution because education system is ‘official’ and since they are using Mandarin and Tamil for official purposes, therefore, it is imperative that the government reexamine this issue because if I chose to rephrase the Constitution without losing its meaning, it would be - ‘people shall be prohibited and prevented from using other languages for official purposes’.
But to TEACH the mothertongue language or to LEARN them is not prohibited by Constitution. Thus, we can learn them as optional subjects in the national schools.
As you may know, Constitution does indeed not prohibit the use of mothertongues. But it cannot be done in ‘official circumstances’.
That is why, I see no sense when people citing the Sedition Act for abolishing vernacular schools. It is indeed not against the Constitution. ...
Thank you.

Salam KijangMas and all

When I was studying in the UK, my Malaysian Chinese friend surprised my Norwegian friend by saying “I am a Malaysian but I am also a Chinese" This had frowned the guy, poor him. He thought the girl had dual citizenship. When I explained to him the she was actually a Malaysian of Chinese origin then he understood it clearly. No further questions asked.

I have got another story whereby two of my Malaysian Indian friends said to the locals that they were Malaysians and when I was approached by the locals after knowing that I was a Malaysian too, they asked me “Aren’t you supposed to look like them? (the Malaysian Indian friends) and I replied " They are Malaysian of Indian origin" and of course they understood it better.

With regards to the Malaysian education systems, it would be good if the government could upgrade the quality of the system. If they can't get the experts in teaching English and mother tongue languages in the national schools (I mean if the local teachers (for the mother tongue language) are not suportive in assisting the government) they should just go out and hire teachers from China to teach Mandarin and India to teach Tamil. They can go to the extend also hiring teachers from the English speaking countries to teach English language in the National Schools in the name of strengthening the National Schools. This will further enhance and promote National Schools over the SJKs. When national schools have become the preferred schools by the Malaysians, the SJKs will slowly die off.
Noted on huge investment cost would have to be incurred by the government, but in the long run our future generations would benefit out of such implementation and it is vital for nation building.
My two cents worth.

cheers

I am familiar with your nic and do follow your skirmishes at the subversive cybercesspool, notably at the blog of the Mother of all HamSapLos, Unker Kit.

DN Knights, you may want to ponder these gem by Phoenixchoco at Unker Kit's blog. Browse through the 200+ comments and marvel at the contaminated, twisted and contorted minds of the damaged goods produced by the SJKCs. Sdr Sepadu, that linked piece can also be in the sampling of comments from the blogosphere.

Like I advised Najib in my above post, forget these lost tribes; focus on Malay Unity and the strengthening of our national institutions and instruments of nationhood.

Sdr. NJ,

Terima kasih kerana berkongsi petikan buku Malay Dilemma TDM.

Ya, pendapat TDM amatlah tepat sekali, dan ianya dihuraikan pada penghujung tahun 60-an. Bayangkan sekarang.

Bila dah di kandang mahkamah, barulah tukar jadi "I am Malaysian" sambil mengaibkan negara kita.

Pn. Zaza,

Yes. From language alone, a nation can give birth to such patriots. In Japan, I dont know whether the guy understood me or not, but I think he understood when I spoke to him in English. But he responded in Japanese. Something quite similar to this:-

http://funlok.com/index.php/videos/do-you-speak-english.html

In Malaysia, when I interrupted two of my neighbours chatting, saying "This is Malaysia. Speak Bahasa Kebangsaan", they just stopped for a while, and then continued again with the bahasa tongkang.

Tuan Sepadu,

Bak kata orang Kelantan,

"Tok gheti baso"
- Tidak Mengerti Bahasa

"Baso tok gheti"
- Bangsa yang Tidak Mengerti

Catatan Tuan Perkasa, "Robin", sememang itulah yang berlaku. Budaya yang halus menjadi semakin jelek.

Salam sejahtera,

"SATU BANGSA, SATU NEGARA, SATU BAHASA"

Dear KijangMas

For your consideration please.

My input for the logo - an outline of a building (looks like an arrow pointing upwards).

Inside this frame is a hand with index finger pointing - representing the number one.

Below this image, just two words "Satu Sekolah".

P.S. I'm no artist.

Sedangkan spesis sejenis Singapura tidaklah menampakkan sifat demikian.

Terima kasih,

Awangku Tajudin.

Omong,

The logo is done. Now locked away awaiting completion of the Memo. Its just a simple icon which hopefully would be carried by fellow patriotic blogs.

In the meantime, let me respond to some neglected comments:-

My tumit was smeared just now on Ocean Park Blvd after I stepped on a puddle laced with the TaikBaboi pakatanitis virus, a mutated derivative of the swine-borne Nipah currently descending on Los Angeles.

This virus has what microtoxicobiologists call the SwinoFaeces Illuminati phenomenon (because it throbs and glows around the rim of the swine's rectum). The Cina Bukit slang for this phenomenon is yǎnjīng míngliàng, which in layman's English can loosely mean "Bright Eyes."

Now, lets examine this stinking yǎnjīng míngliàng while I cleanse my sole.

Yǎnjīng míngliàng or BrightEyes (April 20, 2009 7:40 PM) said:-
"... let these fellas continue with such daydreams of "BN-ism/UMNO-ism/Tuan Tanah-ism" if so wish. It gives good entertainment, and gives Pakatan votes from all races. Just don't freak out when BN gets booted from power, ok Kij?"

"Kij"? Wau-lau-eh, you that close to me meh? That's a petname reserved only for my voluptious diva friends and DN's teeny groupies this side of Beverly Hills. I don't recall sharing a satin sheet with you, yǎnjīng míngliàng. So, go easy on this "Kij" fetish o.k.? BTW Knights, this is the same species that addresses our DYMM Tuankus in a kurang ajar "you/me" and "lu/gua" and show their butts to the Tuankus' faces while they strut in civilised attire that just doesn't fit their disproportionate kuli bijih timah bods (... go to the KLGCC dressing room and you'll know what I mean).

Anyway glazed eyes, why don't you add Lack-of-Patriotism, Derhaka-ism, Delusional-ism, Gambar Bogel-ism, PKR-DAP Conflict-ism, PAS Wavering-ism, Overconfident-ism and CannotManageState-ism to your repertoire of self-destructive elements?

You know yǎnjīng míngliàng, isn't it a nice feeling when your political fate is dependent on the magnanimity of the PAS mullahs? Yup, you treasonous DAP Cheenas are propped by the biggest TONGKAT known to mankind: the big green PAS tongkat. The big green political crutch thrown at you by Partai ISLAM SeMalaysia.

And you know what happens when this GREEN TONGKAT is taken away from you DAP Cheenas and Thambees? Yup, you fall back into the TaikBaboi pakatanitis-laden swine shithole and commence your customary throbbing and glowing around the baboi's rectum.

And you know what happens when this GREEN TONGKAT is instead used by my PAS brothers to whack your ugly face? Yup, you'll make excellent baja for the lalangs.

Now, tell us honestly how long do you think this sinful co-habitation will last? How long do you think you can share a roof with people who wouldn't even share your plate ("najis, bekas kena babi") or shake your paws ("najis, bekas pegang babi") or dismiss you infidels as destined to be the firewood in hell or treat you as nothing more than a convenient moronic sidekick in their fraternal tiff with their UMNO brothers?

We shall see, yǎnjīng míngliàng.

You better relish the carnal pleasures of your sinful co-habitation while it lasts before the mullahs snap out of their Brother Anwarspell well before PRU13.

Beliau amat sayangkan bangsanya. Hati saya tidak pernah tidak sebak apabila menonton deklamasi sajaknya. Berapa kerat saja lagilah pemimpin melayu sekarang yang berjiwa besar seperti beliau.

KijangMas said...

Hanif,

There are four types of Melayus still bersekongkol with the DAP Communist Bastards:-

- Melayus who hate UMNO more than they love their own race and religion. Example: The PAS zombies who lie down on the road to stop Raja Nazrin's car in KK. Their leaders don't mind the whole country be destroyed by the DAP/PKR gang as long as their UMNO nemesis gets buried at the bottom of the scrapheap.

- Melayus who just want political power at all costs. Example: Bro. Anwar and the Melayu clowns in the PKR circus plus, of course, Nizar Jamaluddin.

- Melayus who are not Melayus at heart or got confused on their keMelayuan. Many are weak characters overwhelmed by the cultural dominance of their non-Melayu spouses. Example: DAP's Tunku Aziz, Bakri Musa, RPK, Zaid Ibrahim and Azly Rahman.

- "Melayus" who are NOT Melayus in the first place BUT actually plain vanilla Dravidians masquerading as pseudo-Melayus and Bumiputras. Example: Malik Imtiaz Sarwar, Haris Ibrahim, Din Merican, and the various shades of ebony passing themselves as Melayus.

Will these wayward Melayus change their ways and pulang ke pangkal jalan?

The PAS zealots by and large will as their 15-year cycle of hate switches from UMNO to the juicier DAP/PKR Kafiruun bogeymen and women.

The PKR Melayus, being the chameleonesque opportunists they are, will slither back via IWK pipes from their cesspool to the various Bahagian UMNOs dotting the land.

The remnants -- the "I sound stupid when I speak Malay" types coupled with those who had irreversibly unMelayued themselves -- will forever languish in the desolate wilderness of lost souls and empty hearts.

Salam sejahtera kepada Sidang yang Mulia,

Kearah penyiapan memo TPM.

Izinkan saya membebel.

Sistem Pendidikan

A) Pendidikan Awal (optional)

- Golongan berumur dari 4 hingga 6 tahun

- Penekanan : 60% playground/alam permainan kanak-kanak, 40% pembelajaran

B) Pendidikan Sekolah Rendah (wajib)

- Golongan darjah 1 hingga darjah 6

- Matapelajaran utama: Sejarah, Sivik, Sukan – kearah pembentukan ‘BANGSA MALAYSIA’.

- Sokongan Kerajaan/Promosi – i) Bantuan Penuh
ii) Tenaga pengajar yang diberikan insentif sewajarnya

C) Penilaian Kecenderungan

i) Akademik

“Datinnnn… anak saya.. anak saya kannnnn…… DAPAT 50 A datiiiinnnnn!!!!” (hasilnya macam robot Artoo & D2 – nak masak mee magi sendiri pun tak pandai)

Mungkin Sdr.

Rujuk Rukun Negara & Perlembagaan Malaysia. Baca, Hayati dan Amalkan

less seseorang itu menjadi seekor anjing yang menyalak 'Orang' yang memberi dia makan, sedangkan dia sendiri sudah 'Tidak Bertuan' (i.e. stateless people). Bahasa anjing hanya anjing yang faham.

sorry terlupa...

Lagi contohnya:-

Orang Kelantan akan tahu ini.

"Kambeng make si-gheh" (Bacaan tanpa sabdu)

(Kambing makan sireh)

bandingkan dengan yang ini:

"Si-gheh make kambeng" (Bacaan dengan sabdu ditempat tertentu)

(Sireh makan Kambing)

Lihat cermin, pandang diri - bila aku nak jadi Rakyat Malaysia sedangkan aku sendiri asyik mengguna-pakai bahasa nenek moyang? Atau aku cuba balik negeri, kot-kot negara nenek moyang masih menerima aku lagi?

Jangan sampai di Sana Terhalau, Di Sini Tidak Di Undang, wahai kaum-kaum Tongkang yang Tunggang Langgang, Terkangkang tanpa negara.

Maaf. Dah beremosi pulak.

Salam Kijangmas,

Have to say, I clicked on your site while browsing through rocky's site. Very refreshing to hear a voice thats very different than what is swamping the local internet nowadays.

As a man in his late forties who 'cintakan bangsa, agama, dan negara', i must say im very worried about the state of my race nowadays esp concerning the young ones below my age. it seems the malay race is on the third lane of the NKVE to commiting political & ethnic suicide.

I would like to pretend all is well Kijangmas, that my race is finally returning to its protector, but the reality is otherwise. Nowadays, even my friends are starting to turn away from the party that they and their parents have always supported.

I simply dont get the young ones of my race & religion today. They have basically tuned UMNO out of their psyche with allegations of corruption, mismanagement, racism, and other nonsense that they have been fed with. I see this in my nephews & nieces, but some of my relatives my age are also being influenced. No thanks to the uncensored internet, they are more towards all these western concepts of democracy, socialism, eglatarianism, humanism, anarchism, and other ism that have basically poisoned their brains. Last month I had teh-tarik with a friend who is an UMNO youth branch leader. His words still ring in my ears "Sekarang 'ni lebih mudah cari intan daripada pemuda yang sokong umno".

At this point we are on a losing battle. I think if we are to turn the tide around, we dont have much time. We are now at the very edge of the point of no return and the odds are against us.

as for najib, I had high hopes in him initially. I thought he could correct the wrongs that Badawi did; revoking the freedoms that had allowed the pendatangs to run rampant in our tanah air, cracking down on race traitors like raja petra, malik imtiaz sharwar, and zaid ibrahim, and keeping these bangsa asing in check. But look what he has done! Barely less than a month ... the NEP is slowly being revoked, this 1Malaysia concept that is really a DAP-PKR-PAS 'Malaysian Malaysia', cash to these alien J schools are being increased, & the ravenous chinks are now gobbling up ASN shares like no tomorrow! Najib is more chinese than badawi himself!!!

The worst is when he chickened out of the fight at Penanti even before the battle began. That greatly damaged what morale we had left within umno. Granted, we will likely lose, but to admit defeat even before the battle starts is behaviour totally unacceptable for an umno leader.

Just as ive said we do not have time on our side. Many quarters within umno are furious with Najib and from what my feelers know, there has been some moves from the Muhiyiddin camp to work with Mahathir & depose Najib. I am willing to join them, and I know this will start another bout of 'tikam belakang' within UMNO, but if we really want to save our Tanah Air from the hordes of pendatang & the ever increasing packs of traitorous malays, we must start now instead of later.

I know muhiyiddin is not that capable, but he has what it takes to be a pejuang bangsa. We really loved it when he socked it to those ungrateful chinks after Bukit Gantang & Bukit Selambau. I just wished he would extend the same to the other half of Malay voters that 'memangkah bulan atau mata', but we sometimes cant afford to be too direct.

Sometimes I get fears of my whole Tanah being Singaporeanised... the Chinese and indians being in control, the Malays acting westernised with their ideas of equality and all. My own family thinks sometimes that Im too extreme, but you just walk into Penang, Selangor, and Kuala Lumpur, and you know what I mean. In Penang its the worst and this menace is now slowly seeping into Kedah through Kulim.

Sometimes I just wished my granduncle would have done what he should have done in world war two. In 1942, he was one of the local officials to Yamashita and had quite a lot of influence for a local. Good times it was, the British were out, the Chinese and Indians kept in check, and they helped themselves to young nyonyas purloined from the manors of rich Peranakans who did not flee in time.

He told my father at the time, he always felt the Chinese were no good and will pose a problem to the Tanah Melayu in future. He wanted to influence Yamashita to extend the persecution of the Chinese into a cleansing that would rival the Holocaust. But he was too soft at that time. If he was strong enough, we would not have to face with this issue now.

He joined UMNO but later was expelled by the Tunku faction because they thought he was too extremist. He was about to rejoin after the Tunku was disposed but before that happened he was assasinated by the communists. It was said his killers were Malay Communists, his very own saudara sebangsa.

If my ramblings sound too fanatical to you Kijangmas, forgive me. I just cannot bear seeing my Tanah Negara being subjugated and my fellow Tuan Tanah being made equal with their own consent.

Salam hormat semua,

Kembara Politik and friends,

I have handed over my Final Draft to KijangMas who will be refining it. He is currently travelling and has sporadic access to the Internet.

He has on my suggestion requested satD to take over managing the work and I'm happy that, though currently very busy, satD has agreed. He would be reformatting the draft according to the suggestion he has outlined earlier. That should make the presentation look well organised and professional for handing over to TPM Merangkap Menteri Pelajaran.

As I've said in the writeboard, thank you all for the assistance and co-operation you have given. I'm sure you would give satD the same. I'm proud of you all and I will continue the association with you. Wassalam.

Why don't we do a simple rollcall here as googlegroups may require one-too-many clicks.

Please state your support for our Group Memo to the TPM titled:-

"Pengkajian Semula Sistem Pelajaran Malaysia untuk Melahirkan Suatu Bangsa Malaysia Yang Bersatu, Teguh dan Bersepadu."

State your one line statement of support and we will add your name/nic to our DN Community list to be appended to the Group Memo.

Mat and Omong, excellent.

I just knew it. Mat Cendana, my Northeast Region Commander has to be the first on the list. He was the first to comment on this post, the first to proclaim confidence in DN (that in itself validates his blog's tagline: "The most authoritative blog review on the planet!") and he is the originator of the term "DN Knights."

And now Commander Mat sets an example of how to write a meaningful short statement.

As for Omong, this patriot has been a staunch backer since the early days, a true Knight. And somehow we seem to think alike. In fact, Omong, I had premonitions of your line just now between flashbacks of Jibam hayuning his Mangkuk at satD and Kurtu throwing kelapas at a cuddly Baby Dal.

Folks, your one-two liners would also be depicted next to your name/nic in the listing. So please make them count.

Lastly, for those who asked here and privately if they need to have a blog in order to be in the DN Community list, the answer is NO. Just give your nic, your location and your statement. That's all.

And watch out for an exciting announcement related to this memo.

KijangMas said...

Quick update on the TPM Memo: I've reviewed and refined the pre-final draft and passed it to Bro. satD.

This cause shall be pursued via both Hardcopy Submission and a DN Blog Post (Robin fans, don't worry, I've not forgotten his post). Stay tuned for details of activities where each and every one of us can play a role.

Now, let me say my salam to Bro satD, my field general and comrade in arms.

Bro, I can see your collection of kitchenware is stacking up real fine. First we had our infamous Haris the Teapot affair; then came the skirmishes with Jibam si Mangkuk Hayun; and now we have a useful Senduk to stir the plot.

Folks, watch out for more barang dapur as satD unleashed the RPG I've given him.

And our dapur is blessed with endless supplies of kelapas duly broken by Kurathu@Kurtu in his endless quest to rein in his imaginary buddy, MuthuDalSamy @ Baby Dal.

Target completion: May 8.

Otherwise, my own rudimentary Powerpoint creation wil have to do as we cannot wait too long to unleash this birth of a new for real Anak Bangsa Malaysia.

KijangMas & Brothers AllI might have found a Chinese who could be a fellow Knight - the genuine Bangsa Malaysia type. Tony Yew and his Can You See It?... I believe if there are more Chinese like him, who know history and are genuine in making Malaysia a country for ALL with due respect and consideration given to our unique history, something good might come out of it.

I had written a post about this: Can You See My Bangsa Malaysia?

Unknown said...

Mat Cendana

In our hunger for non-Malay support, we should be wary of 'enlightened others'.

At his blog, I notice that there is a survey at the top right hand corner, asking for participation.

He goes by the name julian, wanting to analyse bloggers and their postings and the legal implications involved.

Tony also highly respects Haris and hopes that Rocky remain neutral.

My take, not very promising.

Perhaps sopo bloggers are really becoming impactful such that there is this need to befriend them and thereby monitor and influence them.

I may sound schizophrenic but that's my personal view. Please take it with a pinch of salt.

I sincerely apologise if I'm mistaken. Better err on the cautious side.

Mat Cendana said...

@Omong
No, no problems with me about that. In fact, it's good to have you being cautious.

Yes, I'm aware of the mentions of Haris etc... But I feel he's sincere about it, albeit out of ignorance, in feeling Haris is "an exemplary Muslim and role model for other Muslims to follow" (which IS a big problem).

But one of the good things about him is that he's willing to admit to all when he's wrong. He had mentioned about RPK recently at a BigDog post.

He is also disillusioned with Anwar after being a very strong supporter. Others are disillusioned too but they are still hanging around because they have one more agenda - nak mampuskan Melayu...

So, I think we can watch out for him and others - those who will finally see that their road and route will hurt everyone, including and especially themselves... that "a better way" exists...

Salam Sejahtera, KijangMas Perkasa.

Salam Sejahtera semua,

Tuan Mat Cendana & Tuan Omong,

Yes, there is this thirst in me to meet these non-Malay supports to realise "Satu Bangsa, Satu Negara, Satu Bahasa". Living in the metro area, they are not that easy to find.

I have "let go" Semenanjung Tanah Melayu to embrace "Malaysia" and I do expect the same from the "non-pribumis", that is, to let go their motherland and mother tongue if they too want to embrace "Malaysia".

May one day there is no more "Chinese", "Indians" and the likes in Malaysia. That will be the day the Malaysians are Malaysians, truly, living their lives by the Rukun Negara and the Perlembagaan.

Today we are having problems of stray dogs straying and barking (the languages foreign to Malaysian) in our Beloved Country, Malaysia. Memanda in promoting his blog in "Chinese" language is a setback to me; confusing as to where "1Malaysia" is heading to.

Nevertheless, I should carry on doing whatever bit I can.

Salam Sejahtera,

"SATU BANGSA, SATU NEGARA, SATU BAHASA"

Nice to know that I'm being "rindu-ed".....I'm around, Pakcik, just having a low profile.

I find that Malaysia's political scene is so colourful and exciting...there's always something coming up ....Life is not so boring...compared to Singapore's political scene, the Malaysian one is more 'exorbitant' with its drama, plots, sub plots, rumours, the twists and turns and spins etc ....sometimes I wonder when/where is the ending.

I hope that all Malaysians, regardless of race and religion will get the act together and help to maintain the former status quo that you all had. The country needs all the help it can get from all quarters to move on and prosper ...for the benefits of all..

PAS, dreaming of becoming the leader in that PR party. Keep on dreaming. Either PKR or DAP. It will never be PAS!. Because there are more people who will support non-Islamic country than those who support them. Remember, even LKW knows how to read Jawi to win the supports of Malay. But does that mean that he wants to convert to Islam or make Singapore an Islamic country?. PAS supporters, dont be so naive. In the end, neither Islam nor Malays will win. Both will lose, as Malaysian become a republic country under PR - demolishing the Raja Berperlembagaan system, the sole system that ensures Islam & Bumi status in this country.

Please PAS supporters, open up your eyes!.
